Strong Return For Who Do You Think You Are?

Natasha Kaplinsky Last night saw the return of Who Do You Think You Are? on BBC One, with the family history show following newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky as she discovered more about her background.

The enthralling episode did really well, picking up a peak audience of 6.5 million adults (a 32.1 share of the audience) in its 9pm timeslot.

It easily beat ITV1’s reality offering, Hell’s Kitchen, which brought in a peak of 3.5 million adults (a 17.6% share) in the same timeslot.

The BBC recently announced that Who Do You Think You Are? is to get a spin-off magazine and a website, supported by a major marketing campaign within the BBC magazines portfolio (see Spin-Off Magazine And Website For BBC Family History Series).

Over on BBC Two, also at 9pm, was the double bill of Mock The Week and Saxondale. The topical quiz Mock The Week had a peak of 1.9 million adults (a 9.4% share), whilst Saxondale, the reasonably amusing Steve Coogan vehicle, had a peak of 1.2 million adults (a 6.1% share).

On BBC One at 8pm was What Not To Wear, the series where “model Lisa Butcher and singer Mica Paris take style-challenged individuals on a journey towards tailored self-esteem”.
