Over 70% of the UK’s SME ecommerce websites are profitable, according to a new report from the software developer, Actinic.
Actinic claims that companies whose sites are profitable tend to be focused on customer relationships and service and have invested significantly in their sites. Bespoke design does not seem to have a marked effect but a shortage of skills continues to hamper profitability
“The results of this year’s survey indicate a growing maturity in the SME ecommerce sector, and companies now regard the internet as more important to their business than they did in 2002,” said Chris Barling, CEO of Actinic. “We can also see a profile emerging for what makes sites profitable. Typically, profitable sites are built using a boxed solution, and have a total cost of implementation of at least £1000.”
