SUBtv Extends Poker Events With Branded Tournament

SUBtv Poker Event Student TV network, SUBtv, has signed a year-long sponsorship deal with Titan Poker, extending its gambling credentials and creating a bespoke, student-facing poker site where SUBtv will arrange online tournaments.

The promotional activity builds on SUBtv’s highly successful promotion of US-based PokerStars.com through its network earlier this year, which saw nearly 800 players from 60 universities taking part in a Texas Hold’em competition (see SUBtv Hands Advertisers Student Poker Deal). The company’s latest poker activity will culminate in a live grand tournament at the end of the year.

Last year saw SUBtv researching student union clubs and societies, finding that a large number have their own poker society, where students meet to play regularly. The new activity will see SUBtv capitalising on the growing interest in poker, as well as offering students a branded meeting place online.

A national screen campaign will support the project through SUBtv’s network, reaching 1.6 million student viewers. Students will be involved on a local level through poker schools and local tournaments supported by local screen activity. Students will get the opportunity to play weekly online tournaments, with the winner of each tournament qualifying for a seat in the major live final in December.

Because of the increased interest among students regarding poker, SUBtv has been looking for a partner able to entertain students throughout the year by offering a student facing poker website. SUBtv is working on the project with gaming industry specialist Bluestar Communications, which short listed the possible partners, and will also consult throughout the project.

Commenting on the promotional activity, Cecilie Hage at SUBtv said: “Titan Poker is a perfect partner for SUBtv, with its top of the range technology and online design skills. It has a good understanding of how to build the community student site and we are both excited about delivering this project to the SUBtv audience over the next year.”

David Robertson from Bluestar Communications added: “We are delighted to be working so closely with Titan and SUBtv on this truly exciting online, land and television project.”
