TalkTalk Drops “Free” Broadband Price

TalkTalk Drops “Free” Broadband Price

Wires Talktalk has lowered the price of its “free” broadband package following the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruling that its “free broadband forever” advertisements were misleading.

There were over 145 complaints, from both individuals and competitors, about the ads, which were banned as of yesterday, with the ASA saying that the “forever” part of the ad did not stand up, even if the broadband was indeed free.

As part of the price cut, the broadband provider also got rid of its £30 connection fee.

TalkTalk said: “We thank the ASA for its thorough investigation and its ruling that TalkTalk can continue to invite customers to sign up for free broadband. We will also now be offering customers free broadband with our existing Talk 3 package for its existing monthly charge of £8.99. This does not include unlimited international calls to 28 countries but it does include unlimited calls to UK landlines. As this is an existing tariff, broadband will be referred to as free.”
