Telegraph Boosts Film Association With BAFTA Promotion

The Daily Telegraph will support its partnership with the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) tomorrow with the launch of the Daily Telegraph British Academy Film Season, offering readers two for one tickets to see a selection of films nominated for a BAFTA award.

The promotion will run from February 4 to 10 at six UGC cinemas, supported by a 16-page tabloid preview of the season to be published with tomorrow’s Daily Telegraph on Thursday.

The newspaper is also sponsoring BAFTA’s Film Awards cinema trailer to be shown on 1,800 screens nationwide in the three weeks leading up to the Awards. The trailer, starring Natasha McElhone, aims to encourage people to watch The Orange British Academy Film Awards. In addition, the 12 February edition of the Telegraph Magazine will be devoted to awards, which will be broadcast on BBC One the same evening.

Alternate copies of the special edition Telegraph Magazine will feature Sienna Miller or Daniel Craig on the cover, as well as enticing movie buffs with a portfolio of photographs by Lorenzo Aguis, featuring 80 British actors and off-screen stars. The title will also feature interviews with behind-the-scenes stars including Celestia Fox, Martha Fiennes, Tim Bevan and BAFTA-nominated Stuart Craig and Nick Dudman.

Commenting on the promotion, Michele Lavery, editor of Telegraph Magazine, said: “This is the first time so many stars of British film have been brought together for a series of specially commissioned portraits by one of the world’s leading photographers, Lorenzo Aguis. I am extremely proud of this definitive issue of the magazine devoted to British film.”

The promotion continues the Telegraph‘s long-held association with leading cinema. Last year saw the paper’s popular Movie Monthly promotion offer readers the chance to see new films for free before anyone else, including high-profile offerings such as Wimbledon (see Telegraph Revives Wimbledon With Film Promotion).
