Telegraph Pre-Tax Profits Rise by 4.9%

Pre-tax profits at Telegraph Media Group rose by 4.9% year on year to £34.3 million, according to full year 2007 figure filed at Companies House.

Overall turnover for the publishing group also rose 4%, or £13.8 million last year to £354.9 million.

Operating profits after exceptional costs were £11.8 million, which is an increase of £1 million on the 2006 figure and up from a £12.1 million loss in 2005.

The report commented on how fast the media market is developing as a digital technology. When this is teamed with the high levels of broadband access, is fundamentally changing “the manner in which consumers access news and information. This is impacting on the business environment in which the industry operates.”

Telegraph Media Group’s print advertising revenues are now supplemented online, as advertisers demand multimedia solutions to creative briefs. At the same time the report said that there is continuing pressure across the industry on the print circulation volumes, as readers seek news from an increasing variety of sources.
