Telegraph To Publish Special Luxury Goods Supplement

The Daily Telegraph is gearing up for the pre-Christmas shopping rush with a special luxury goods supplement showcasing everything from precious jewels to the sleekest gadgets.

The 48-page Luxury that Lasts supplement will wrap the Daily Telegraph magazine this Saturday and will feature double page ads for a number of top-end brands including Louis Vuitton, Patek Philippe, Prada and Burberry.

The Telegraph claims the title mixes upmarket advertising with quality editorial and features include a piece on why Harrods is devoting an entire floor to ‘delicious scents’, the story behind Petek Philippe’s watches and reviews of delux holiday destinations from Morocco to the Maldives.

Commenting on the initiative, Vanessa Welham, head of advertising sales at Telegraph Group Magazines, said: “The luxury supplement offers advertisers a medium which is exclusive and separate to the Telegraph magazine. Coinciding with Christmas it offers readers a look at some of the most exclusive gift ideas, as well as luxury accessories and travel destinations.”

Recent research from the Daily Telegraph shows that the title has more readers on Saturday than any other day of the week. The latest Telegraph Sections study shows that after the main news, the Telegraph magazine is the most popular part of Saturday’s edition, attracting 88% of readers, followed closely by the Weekend section with 86% (see Saturday Revealed As Top Day For Telegraph).

The latest ABC results for the six months to September 2004 reveal a rather disappointing performance for the Daily Telegraph, which has seen its circulation decline by 1.8% year on year to 909,253. The Sunday Telegraph also faltered with a 1.3% drop during the same period to 701,870.
