Tesco renews media-buying contract with WPP after pitch

Tesco has appointed EssenceMediaCom to handle its UK media following a competitive pitch.

MediaCom has been Tesco’s media agency since 2015 and is set to merge with fellow GroupM (WPP) agency Essence in January. Tesco called a media review earlier this year and final pitches took place between the incumbent agency and Publicis Groupe’s Zenith.

Tesco spends about £80m a year on UK media according to Nielsen billing estimates.
