The Hits Gets New Programme Manager

Radio Digital-only radio station The Hits has appointed Steve Dunlop as its new programme manager.

Dunlop replaces Jamie Wood who has moved to fellow Bauer Radio station Rock FM as deputy programme director.

Dunlop joins The Hits from XFM Manchester where he was senior producer and station imaging producer prior to which he worked for GCap, Spectrum Strategy Consultants and the BBC.

Anthony Gay, programme director of The Hits, said: “Steve is a great addition to the team and I’m looking for his strong creative skills to help drive the consistent growth we’ve seen in The Hits’ listening hours.”

The latest RAJAR figures, for the first quarter of 2008, show that The Hits enjoyed an increase in weekly reach of 34.5%, to take its total to 1.5 million listeners (see BBC Radio 2 Sees Weekly Reach Increase).

Dunlop said: “I’m joining the UK’s leading national digital station and I’m excited about the potential. It’s already very successful but there’s an opportunity to further develop its audiences and interactivity.”

The Hits is produced by Bauer Radio in Manchester and is avialable nationally on freeview, Sky, and online.
