The Hits Radio is launching a search for upcoming presenting talent with Student Star 2013, beginning today.

Now in its third year, the competition, in association with the Student Radio Association, aims to identify the most talented student radio presenters, with the winners being given the opportunity to present two shows on The Hits Radio, as well as one to one coaching from What Goes On Media.

Entrants will be judged in two categories, Best Male and Best Female, and entries will be accepted until 9pm Tuesday 26th March. Participants can enter by submitting a five minute audio file demonstrating their presenting talent on the competition’s dedicated web page. The winners will then be announced at the 2013 National Student Radio Conference in Leicester, held 2nd – 4th April.

“We are delighted to be able to offer such a unique opportunity to student radio presenters for the third year running and we look forward meeting the exciting talent that we know is out there,” said Paul Fernley, Programmes Manager at The Hits Radio. “Student radio plays a vital part in the industry and we are proud to support it, so let the competition begin!”

Fred Bradley, Chair of the Student Radio Association added, “We’re really excited about this year’s competition, it’s a ‘must’ for every budding presenter out there. Plus this year the search is double the fun looking for a male and a female presenter. The Hits Radio has always been a fantastic supporter of what we do at the Student Radio Association, and this is another example of how the team continually look for the best student stars to shape the future of their radio station.”
