The Sportsman Sees Successful Debut Sales

The Sportsman Logo Britain’s newest daily newspaper, The Sportsman, has claimed full price sales for its debut on Wednesday of over 65,000.

The paper’s exact figures will not be known until sales in Ireland are included, but the title claims to have “smashed through” its target figure of 50,000 on the first day of publication.

Exact figures are expected by the paper next week, with publisher Sports Betting Media expecting to claim a positive performance against rival the Racing Post, which currently commands a full rate circulation of 69,108.

Published daily with a cover price of £1, The Sportsman is 40p cheaper than the Racing Post, which has suffered a decline in its full rate circulation in recent months, reaching a 12 month low in the latest ABC results for February.

The Sportsman should also benefit from a wide-reaching promotional campaign in the coming months, with advertising across events such as the Grand National and the World Cup, as well as sponsorship of Sky’s England cricket tour of India and the darts Premier League, running until May.
