Trial And Retribution’s Return Wins 9pm Timeslot For ITV1

Trial And Retribution The return of crime drama Trial and Retribution to ITV1 lured almost 6.3 million adults to the channel last night, equating to a 28.4% viewing share between 9pm and 10pm.

Over on BBC One, the latest in the channel’s Fairytales series – which reinvent a common fable with a modern adult twist – gained an audience of around 3.7 million adults (16.7%).

Earlier, The Bill proved ever popular. The long-running cop drama was watched by more than 4.9 million adults, giving ITV1 a 22.5% audience share, compared to the 19.8% BBC One took for Waterloo Road, which over 4.3 million tuned in to.

Meanwhile, Masterchef cooked up a storm for BBC Two, with more than 2.7 million adults (12.6%) tuning in to see who kept their cool in the kitchen.

Jamie Oliver’s Jamie At Home series on Channel 4 failed to attract as many viewers, despite the omnipresent chef working wonders with lamb and leeks. Almost 2.2 million (10.2%) stuck with the first show, whilst more than 2.2 million (10%) chose the second.

The BBC News at 10pm once again topped ITV1’s effort, with almost 4.9 million viewers compared to just over four million.
