TV ad revenues forecast to fall 6% in 2009

A TV Billetts has forecast that TV advertising revenues in the UK will fall by £198 million, or 6%, in 2009.

The media auditing firm added that TV ad revenue will end 2008 down 5% on 2007, at £3.09 billion, while ITV’s ad revenues are predicted to fall £100 million in 2009.

Channel 4’s ad revenue is forecast to be down £48 million while Five will be down £16 million.

Sky’s advertising revenues will be down 9% from last year, while IDS is expected to be broadly flat year on year.

There is some good new, however, with Billetts saying that TV audiences will increase for the eighth year in a row, meaning cheaper advertising prices for key buying audiences.
