TV Banking Will Be Used By 35% Of Europeans By 2005, Says Celent

Thirty-five percent of European digital television (DTV) subscribers will use interactive TV (iTV) banking services by 2005, according to research from Celent Communications published this month.

Consumer adoption levels will depend on the product mix and interactive content provided by banks on the digital TV screen, according to the report.

iTV banking remains at the experimental stage for most banks, according to to Isabella Fonseca, author of the report. “Approximately 17 financial institutions provide a full-service offering via this channel. Others have pilots underway. This means that the number of banks offering iTV banking services has doubled since last year,” she says.
