TVTimes Sees Hike In Cover Price

TVTimes is unveiling a significant new look, with a greater emphasis placed on digital TV coverage and big star interviews with Britain’s favourite TV personalities.

The new look publication will hit the shelves on February 7th, seeing its cover price increase by 5p to 90p and positioning the magazine in the premium sector alongside TV & Satellite Week and the Radio Times.

Other key improvements will see TVTimes include a minimum pagination of 100 pages every week, as well as improved paper quality for the cover and a whiter text stock. More pages will be devoted to digital television, with emphasis placed on TV recommendations and more soap coverage that any other TV listings brand in the market.

Commenting on the new look magazine, Philippa Brown managing director said: “The TV listings market is very competitive and TVTimes has had a challenging time. This refresh has been a major undertaking for tx and the research feedback on TVTimes’ new look has been fantastically positive.”

Neil Robinson, publishing director added: “Digital TV, in particular, Freeview, is growing at a phenomenal rate. TVTimes’ new look embraces digital TV with the most easy to use digital listings and also emphasises TVTimes’ enviable access to Britain’s favourite stars and their programmes.”

At the end of last year, H Bauer’s TVQuick increased its cover price by 5p, taking the magazines cover price up to 70p, narrowing the price gap on TVTimes and further distancing itself from TV Easy (see Price Rise Sees TVQuick Increase Sales Value).

At the beginning of the year IPC Media and H Bauer began what some speculated would become a full-blown cover price war, with H Bauer cutting 10p off the price of TV Choice, taking it to 30p to compete with its rival’s What’s on TV (see Cuts Spark Fear Of TV Mag Price War).
