UIP Boss Linked With ITV Top Job

ITV Logo The head of United International Pictures, Stewart Till, has been approached by the headhunters leading the search for Charles Allen’s successor at ITV.

According to reports in the trade press, Till has been contacted by headhunters Zygos, who are understood to have also spoken to BBC Worldwide boss John Smith.

Till began his career at Saatchi & Saatchi and was a video executive at PolyGram in the early 1990s. He is currently chairman of the UK Film Council and Millwall FC.

Owing to the break up of the distribution partnership between NBC Universal and Viacom, Till will be departing as chairman and chief executive of UIP at the end of the year.

Charles Allen is to step down from the role as chief executive on October 1, with ITV finance director John Cresswell taking over as interim chief executive (see Charles Allen Leaves ITV).

Other names to have been linked with the ITV top job in recent days include Mike Clasper, former head of BAA (see Clasper In Discussions For ITV Top Job), and Roger Parry, chairman of Johnston Press.
