UK WAP Usage Continues To Grow

Wap Enabled Mobile Phone WAP usage continues to go from strength to strength, with a total of 1.76 billion page impressions viewed in the UK during April, according to the latest figures from the Mobile Data Association (MDA).

The new figure represents a 24% increase in WAP pages viewed compared with the same period in 2004, and an average daily total of 58.9 million.

The growth leads on from an impressive performance in March, which saw internet usage via mobile phones setting a new record total of 1.82 billion page impressions for the month (see Wap Usage Rises By A Third In March).

The increased use of WAP echoes that of text messaging, which saw a continued upward climb in April to an impressive 2.52 billion messages sent during the month.

Person-to-person texts sent across the UK’s GSM network operators during April showed an increase of 20% on the total sent during the same period in 2004 (see April Continues To Break Text Message Records).
