Viacom Set To Retain £100 Million Tube Contract

Tube Poster Viacom Outdoor looks set to retain the £100 million per year contract to operate advertising on London’s tube network, beating competition from JCDecaux to become Transport for London’s prefered bidder for the billboard rights.

The new deal will span an eight year period, valued at £800 million, and is one of the largest outdoor contracts within London.

Amongst the mass of poster sites covered by the new deal are cross-track platform posters station corridor posters and escalator and train panels. London Undergrond are also expected to extend the use of electronic billboards, such as those trialled at the Tottenham Court Road station (see Electronic Billboards See Positive Response).

In addition to the tube network, Viacom looks set to retain the operating rights to poster sites across the Docklands Light Railway and Victoria Coach Station.

Viacom is believed to have beaten competition from Clear Channel, Maiden Outdoor and Primesight to secure the new contract.
