Virgin Media Added 4,900 New Customers In Q1

Virgin Media Logo Virgin Media has revealed that it added 4,900 new customers in the first quarter of the year, adding that its churn rate, at 1.2%, is the lowest since 2004.

The company also said that it added 36,800 net new customers for its cable TV service, bringing the total subscriber base up to 3.51 million.

It also reported 88,400 net new additions to its broadband service, taking the total base to 3.78 million, while 59,400 contract mobile customers were added to its Virgin Mobile service. However, 127,600 pre-pay mobile customers left in Q1.

Operating income before depreciation, amortisation and other charges was £324 million, on revenue of just over £1 billion.

Neil Berkett, chief executive officer of Virgin Media, said: “Our first quarter results represent another solid operational performance. In particular, churn continued to decline, reflecting the emphasis that we have placed on this area. Our results demonstrate that our customers are continuing to respond positively to our compelling consumer propositions.

“We remain focused on leading in next generation broadband and redefining the TV experience through on-demand. With our focus on customer value, reducing churn and stabilizing ARPU, we are well positioned for growth.”
