Virgin Media Bolsters Online Football Content

Football Virgin Media is launching online near-live coverage of the build-up to football matches, coming to viewers from stadiums around the UK.

Audiences will be able to watch interviews, comedy sketches and get the views of the fans in the build up to kick-off before Saturday matches.

The broadcaster has signed a deal with M3U.com, the internet TV provider, to supply the service on match days.

Virgin Media’s coverage will be broadcast from its Fan Van, which will travel to different matches throughout the country.

Virgin Media recently launched its new entertainment channel Virgin 1, launched to combat the loss of Sky One which disappeared when the two companies were unable to resolve a dispute over the pricing of the satellite broadcaster’s basic channel package (see Virgin Unveils New Channel Logo).

In August, the broadcaster revealed that it lost 70,300 subscribers across its four cable and mobile services in the three months to the end of June (see Virgin Media Loses 70,300 Subscribers In Q2).
