Virgin Media Loses Customers

BT Building Virgin Media lost 37,000 customers in the last three months of 2006, according to a financial statement released by the company today.

It telephony service had 64,300 net fewer subscribers, with Virgin Media putting this down in part to competitive pressure.

Broadband saw strong growth in the number of subscribers, with net additions of 78,100 in the fourth quarter of 2006, continuing at the same level of the previous quarter.

Virgin Media also saw growth in digital television, with 83,900 net additions, whilst total TV additions, including analogue television, were 38,500, up from 22,000 in the previous quarter.

The newly branded company (see Virgin Media Launches Today) recorded an increase in to £1.08bn, reflecting growth in all segments.
