VNU Expected To Show Strong Rise In Operating Profit

Publishing and information group VNU releases it full-year financial results tomorrow and is expected to show a 23% growth in operating profit to €703 million, boosted by the consolidation of Neilsen Media Research (NMR). Net profit before goodwill is expected to rise from €320 million to €398 million.

According to the predictions from ABN Amro, VNU has enjoyed a strong underlying advertising base and a solid performance from its US businesses. The acquisition of NMR is thought to have added around €125 million to earnings, whilst the sale of the newspaper division contributed €69 million to VNU’s profit.

However, along with the strong figures is an expected internet loss of around €65 million.
