Watch: Women need to ‘see’ change to improve TV tech representation
The Media Leader Live @ Connected TV World Summit 2024

“If you can see it, you can be it.”

That’s the message from Sadie Groom, founder and CEO of Bubble Agency, whose inclusion group for women broadcasters Rise is lobbying for an end to all-male panels at industry conferences.

Groom said that representation of women on the “technical” part of the TV sector is between 9% and 15% at conferences and wants to provide event organisers with lists of women that they might not know about.

She tells The Media Leader: “We are saying: be more flexible with the organisers. So if you don’t have a CEO, go for a level down. That’s not a problem.

“But then we’re going to ask men to pledge never to be on an all-male panel, which is quite scary.”

Groom is one of The Media Leader‘s Top 50 Women Gamechangers in TV 2023.
