WPP Signs Deal With TiVo

Remote Control WPP has agreed a deal with US digital video recorder company TiVo which will see it broadcast advertising on its personal video recorder (PVR) service.

WPP’s GroupM media agencies (including MindShare, MediaCom and Mediaedge:cia) are involved in the deal, which includes an agreement to buy a minimum amount of advertising.

The TiVo PVR includes features, such as offers of discounts, which encourage consumers to choose to watch advertisements.

According to recent research carried out by Magna Global, by 2010 there will be 34 million PVR subscribers in the US.

In July WPP joined forces with LiveWorld to provide online community and social networking services to major brands through WPP’s local networks (see WPP Launches Online Social Networking Services).
