Yahoo! set to launch new search advertising platform

Yahoo! Building Online giant Yahoo! is to allow advertisers to add video, images and custom search boxes to their search ads.

The new search advertising platform, Rich Ads in Search, lets advertisers post images and video, create deep links to relevant pages, include search boxes within listings, and display logos, said a report on Brand Republic.

Advertisers in the US have already been testing the new service, according to the report, with brands seeing click-through rates increase by as much as 25%.

The programme will be expanded beyond next week’s pilot period in the US, with Yahoo! set to launch the product internationally after that, although the company has yet to give timings.

Earlier this week, Yahoo! launched a new mobile service intended to be a highly-personalised mobile starting point to the internet.

Currently available through a managed beta program, the service is expected to undergo a full launch in the second quarter of the year (see Yahoo! launches personalised mobile internet service).
