Yahoo! To Rebrand Overture This Year

Search targeted marketing firm Overture will rebrand as Yahoo! Search Marketing Solutions later this year, following Yahoo!’s decision to rebrand its American operations from next quarter.

The move will bring together Overture’s sponsored search offerings and Yahoo!’s listings products under the new banner. Through Yahoo! Search Marketing Solutions, advertisers of all sizes will have convenient access to what the company claims is the industry’s most comprehensive suite of search marketing and related products and services.

Overture will formally change its brand in the US early next quarter, with international markets, except for Japan and Korea, re-branding later this year. Several products within the portfolio will be re-named once Overture assumes the Yahoo! brand in the U.S. The group will also continue to enhance and expand Yahoo!’s network of sponsored search distribution sites.

Explaining the move Ted Meisel, senior vice president of Yahoo! Inc, said: “Our mission is to be essential to marketers of all types around the world. Unifying all of our search marketing and related products under one banner and one common approach reflects our commitment to integrate and simplify online advertising, allowing businesses of all sizes to take advantage of the Yahoo! search marketing solutions that best fit their marketing goals.”

Overture has seen its business continue to grow in recent months. Last year saw the company extend its sponsored search deal with Microsoft, seeing sponsored search results feature on MSN sites world-wide to June 2006. The deal saw Overture provide the software giant with targeted marketing messages in order to build on the long-running relationship already built up between the two companies (see Overture Extends Search Marketing Deal With MSN).
