Saatchi & Saatchi is continuing its litigation actions, issuing a writ seeking $50m (£32m) damages against the former head of the Saatchi agency in the US.The writ against Bill Muirhead alleges breach of contract and misappropriation of confidential information. Muirhead said that the allegations were untrue and would be vigorously defended.

The Times is to introduce a motoring supplement on Saturday, one week after the Daily Telegraph announced its plans to extend its motoring supplement. (Newsline 12/01). The new weekly broadsheet supplement will increase the Times’ motoring pagination from 3 to 12 pages.

US West announced full year results from the Baby Bell regional phone companies with a 55% jump in net earnings to $409m in the final quarter, helped by the flotation of TeleWest, its UK joint venture. TeleWest increased the number of cable subscribers by 42% to 320,000 and its telephone lines by 94% to 271,000.
Mary Archer is to resign from the board of Anglia Television, following months of controversy over Lord Archer and share purchases.
SelecTV, the independent television production company has reported pre-tax profits for the six months to September down 19% to £517,000. SelecTV has a 15% investment in Meridian Broadcasting.
