Channel 4’s Brookside, which is on every evening this week to cover the unearthing of murdered Trevor has pulled in an extra 3 million on its usual figures. Brookside has been achieving ratings of around 3.8m, but its audience on Tuesday, according to unofficial overnights reached 6.4 million.
The combined ITV/C4 revenue figure for December, based on agency estimates, came in at £156.84m, up 9.3% on December 1993. Rupert Murdoch, speaking at the World Economic Forum has said that the rising cost of paper could spark an increase in the price of UK newspapers, marking an end to the long-running price war. He told the Forum that in the last three months the price of paper had gone up by 30-40%.
