Videotron, the Canadian cable operator has reported for the year ending August 31. Despite a 10% increase in revenues in Canada and the UK, net profit was down to C$20.5m from C$25.1m last year. Videotron said that the UK area would contribute more in 1995.
Preliminary trading in London and New York of UK Cable company TeleWest yesterday valued the company at £1.8bn. Shares were six times subscribed and have been priced at 182p. TeleWest is the first UK cable company to join the London Stock Exchange.

Ladbrokes, the first bookmaker to sponsor a UK television programme has signed a deal with BSkyB to sponsor the football news programme Soccer News on Sky Sports. The 15 minute programme is broadcast twice a day Mondays – Thursdays.

Granada Group has announced results for the year ending October 1 this morning with pre-tax profits up by 50.8% from £176m last year to £265.4m. Turnover was £2.097bn. The dividend also increased by 14% from 8.75p to 10p. The TV interests doubled, to £85m.
