Sir Peter Gibbings has been appointed as the next chairman of the Radio Authority, taking over from Lord Chalfont next January. He is a former chairman of the Guardian and Manchester Evening News, a director of the Economist and a member of the Monopolies and Mergers Commission Newspaper Panel.
