The Belgian Flemish Socialist Party has called for the banning of all tobacco advertising in Belgium and the establishment of a ‘tobacco prevention fund’ to be financed through higher tobacco excise duties.
The German Health Ministry has repeated its opposition to an outright ban on all tobacco advertising in the EU. The minister, Mr Seehofer, has said in an interview that the experiences of other countries shows that tobacco advertising bans do not influence the overall consumption of tobacco.
