Toyota has announced that it is to sponsor the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa, where the company is the leading vehicle manufacturer.

The ITC has invited applications for four separate local delivery franchises in the Midlands. The areas are: Tamworth, North Warwickshire and Meriden (59,000 homes) Lichfield, Burntwood and Rugeley (54,000 homes) Burton Upon Trent, Swadlincote, Ashby-de-la-Zouce, Coalville and Uttoxeter (97,000 homes) Hinckley and Bosworth (38,000 homes)

Preliminary trading in London and New York of UK Cable company TeleWest yesterday valued the company at £1.8bn. Shares were six times subscribed and have been priced at 182p. TeleWest is the first UK cable company to join the London Stock Exchange.

Ladbrokes, the first bookmaker to sponsor a UK television programme has signed a deal with BSkyB to sponsor the football news programme Soccer News on Sky Sports. The 15 minute programme is broadcast twice a day Mondays – Thursdays.

The National Lottery draw on Saturday night attracted around 21.3 million viewers between 19.45 and 20.15pm watching BBC1, compared to 6.9 million to ITV and just over 0.5 million each to BBC2 and Channel 4.
