NBC has acquired a transponder on the new Astra 1D Satellite and plans to use it to provide variants of its existing service for particular markets, as well as for new services.
Independent Newspapers, the Irish publishing and media company, has taken a 24.9% stake in Irish Press, Irelands second largest newspaper group. The move is seen as a defensive one to prevent non-Irish interests taking over the group.Conrad Black’s Telegraph Group is rumoured to have been considering taking a stake in Irish Press.
