Reed Elsevier has today announced final results; pre-tax profits were up 16% on last year for the overall group. The UK section, which includes IPC Magazines, was up 12.4% year on year. Shares are up 26p today to 745p.
Total TV viewing is up by 2.9% for the week ending 5/3/95. This is up 2.9% on the same week last year, but down 1.7% on the previous week’s figures. Radio Times is launching a major marketing campaign over Easter, which includes a competition in conjunction with Classic FM giving listeners the opportunity to win a 10,000 cruise from Burma to Rangoon. MAI has released interim results. Pre-tax profits in the media arm rose from £6m to £29m. This was helped by the acquisition of Anglia TV. However, MAI’s financial arm reported a fall in profits from £28m to £16m this time. The overall result was a 22% rise in pre-tax profit to £59 million.
