The EP Environment Committee adopted on 21 January a report on the Commission’s proposals on sales guarantees for consumer goods. This proposes extending all guarantees for major items to two years. If adopted by the full Parliament, this proposal for a directive could cover purchases for all new and used consumer goods.
A new draft text setting out the Council’s Common Position on the EU tobacco advertising ban has emerged: the new text goes some way to clarifying the previously elusive provisions. It is understood that the new text will be considered at the next available Council meeting, and may be adopted in the next few weeks.
