A new edition of the ITC Code of Advertising Standards Practice is published today. It remains basically unchanged with the principle difference relating to the restriction on times of transmission of advertisements for medicines, vitamins and dietary supplements. Shares in Anglia Television rose by 12p to 329p yesterday, amid fears that it could be the most vulnerable of the television companies should the rules on takeover bids be relaxed. By 1pm today the shares had risen another 1p.
Portsmouth and Sunderland Newspapers has reported a 50% leap in profits to £6m, for the year to the end of March. The publisher’s titles inlcude the Portsmouth News and the Sunderland Star.
The Saatchi & Saatchi £73m rights issue has had a 92% take-up. The money raised will be used in a variety of ways. £36.5m will go towards reducing bank debt, £19m will buy minority stakes in European advertising subsidiaries, £10.5m will be used to strengthen media buying and £7m will be used for new technology.
