WPP, the advertising group which owns J Walter Thompson and Ogilvy & Mather has announced its interim pre-tax profits.Profits have risen 13-fold to £24.1m and revenues rose 16% to £699.7m.

Linford Christie’s winning run in the 100m final at Stuttgart on 15 August boosted BBC1’s ratings to 11.5m viewers.This was the highest audience for any single BBC1 programme in its week except for Eastenders. During that week BBC1 claimed 33.2% of the total television audience, with ITV’s share dropping to 36.8% from over 40%.
