Metro Radio Group has today announced results for the six months ending March 31. Pre-tax profits were £2.05m, up 24% on the previous year’s £1.65m.

Applications are being invited by the ITC for the new local delivery franchise for Lincolnshire and South Humberside, including in particular Scunthorpe and Boston. The new area will exclude the existing cable franchises of Grimsby, Lincoln and Grantham. The area covers about 174,000 homes. Applications must be submitted by noon on 21 August 1995.
Total Television viewing for the week ending 14th May has recovered from last week’s sharp fall. Viewing is up by 8.7% on the same week last year and up by 18.1% on last week’s viewing summary. Neil Canetty-Clarke will join the Guardian Media Group plc as Group Finance Director from September 1995. Previously Group Finance Director at LWT he will replace Stanley Porter who is retiring. Canetty-Clarke will begin working with the company from June.
The ITC has decided to award the Northern Ireland local delivery franchise to CableTel Northern Ireland Ltd. Of four bids, CableTel’s was the highest at £14,418,188. CableTel has committed to start construction in 1996 and to offer service to at least 428,000 homes in the province by the end of 2003.
The legal feud between Maurice Saatchi and Cordiant ended yesterday, with both sides agreeing to an out-of-court settlement.
