£1m Ad Campaign For Radio Five Live
The BBC has launched a £1m advertising campaign to launch Radio Five Live, the news and sports network replacing Radio 5 which launches next week. As well as trailers on BBC1 and BBC2, seven million leaflets will be sent to the prospective audience; people aged 25 and 45 in the C1 and C2 socio- economic groups.
The promotion will offer listeners the chance to win a Vauxhall car or a holiday to New York to watch the World Cup finals.
Jenny Abramsky, controller of Radio Five Live, said, “It is not a new Radio 4. It will be much younger, vibrant and slightly rough.”
All Radio 5’s sports programmes are transferring to the new network. There will be half-hourly news and sports bulletins, and leisure programmes covering areas such as outdoor and adventure sports, angling, computers and holidays.
The station goes on air on Monday 28 March.
