Nintendo’s second-screen experience delayed

Nintendo has announced that a key application for the Wii U will not be available at launch, with owners having to wait until December to activate Nintendo TVii. The next-generation console is due for release in North America this Sunday (18 November) among industry hype and expected high demand.

Nintendo TVii was only announced in September this year and has captured the attention of the industry, providing a true second screen experience. Demos showed users watching sports while additional information such as statistics, team formation and recap videos appeared on the GamePad.

Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video, and YouTube have been confirmed for the North American service but the company has remained tight lipped about European availability. The Wii U launches in Europe 30 November.
