Latest predictions show that Classic FM could be giving itself a well deserved pat on the back on Friday when the RAJAR figures are released, giving sceptics cause to eat their words. It is estimated that the station has attracted over 4m listeners a week since it launched in September, more than 30% greater than originally forecast.
The station has been watched closely by competitors over the past five months, and details such as the departure of sales manager Richard Wilson only five days after the launch did not go unnoticed. However, according to the station’s latest figures it has already taken more in ad revenue and promotions than it was forecasting for the whole of the first year.
Classic is confident about RAJAR’S release at the end of this week and chief executive John Spearman will chair a press conference on the day to comment on the station’s position. Full details of this and the RAJAR figures will be available on MediaTel on Friday.
