Breaking Bad finale sets record piracy figures for series

After setting both viewership and Twitter records last week with the final episode, it has been revealed that Breaking Bad set piracy records for the series too.

According to TorrentFreak, the series finale clocked 500,000 pirated downloads just 12 hours after the first copy appeared online.

The majority of downloaders came from Australia at 18%, followed by the US at 14.5% and the UK at 9.3%. London accounted for 3.3% of all downloads in the UK.

At the peak of illegal downloading, more than 85,000 people across the globe were sharing a single copy of the episode. Combining the four most-shared copies totals the figure to over 190,000.

However, despite Breaking Bad setting its own series record, Game of Thrones still holds the record for the highest number of downloads ever, with more than 170,000 sharing a single copy.
