INR2 Licence Awarded

The Radio Authority has today awarded the second Independent National Radio licence (INR2) to Independent Music Radio (IMR).

IMR, which proposes a rock and pop format for the AM licence, was the second highest bidder with a bid of £1.88m.

The Radio Authority announced that after careful consideration it was decided that the highest bidder, Independent National Broadcasting, would not be able to sustain the service it proposed. INB bid £4.01m for the licence. IMR now has six weeks in which to secure its financing, the Radio Authority will then grant the licence.
