Business magazines will be the fastest growing press sector in the 1990’s, according to a report produced for the Advertising Association.
The report gives two separate forecasts for either a Labour or Conservative government. Under a Labour government, it is predicted that business press advertising will increase by 69% to £847m by 2004 (1985 constant prices). Display advertising would increase from £370m to £588m, while classified advertising would increase from £132m to £260m.
TV advertising is estimated to rise from £1416m to £2114m. The average increase across all media would be 49.4%.
Under a Conservative government, the report forecasts advertising in the business press sector would increase by 81% to £908m.
The increase for TV advertising is forecast at 62.1%, whilst all media is expected o increase by 58%.
