Granada Gets On The Ball With Sponsorship Deal

Granada Enterprises has secured Wagon Wheels as the sponsor of the new series of ITV1’s On The Ball, in a deal worth around £600,000.

The deal, which was negotiated by Stewart Hunt at Granada and Daliah Epstein at BBJ, marks the FMCG brand’s first foray into broadcast sponsorship and will also include an integrated online sponsorship of an On The Ball microsite within itv.com/football.

The new series of the Saturday morning football magazine show, which is presented by Gabby Logan, begins of 17 August to coincide with the start of the new football season.

Commenting on the deal, Carys Evans, senior brand manager at Burton’s Foods, said: “We’re delighted to kick off our first sponsorship deal with On The Ball, it’s an excellent opportunity for Wagon Wheels. It’s a perfect match for the brand, ensuring we hit our target audience of dads and lads but also get Wagon Wheels through to mums, the family’s main shopper.”

New Cadbury’s sponsorship credits for Coronation Street are due to launch today, seeing the continuation of a deal worth around £10m per year for ITV1 (see New Cadbury’s Sponsorship Idents For Coronation Street).
