DRDB Appoints New Agency For Pre-Christmas Push

The Digital Radio Development Bureau (DRDB) has appointed Nelson Bostock Communications to help drive awareness and generate sales of digital radio units in the key pre-Christmas period.

The PR consultancy will work alongside DRDB’s in-house team to generate a consumer campaign highlighting the generic benefits of digital radio. It will also work with manufacturers to launch a range of new products in the run up to Christmas.

Commenting on the appointment, Mandy Green, press and publicity manager at DRDB, said: “We were impressed with Nelson Bostock’s credentials in the consumer technology arena and with their sales-led approach to the PR task. We look forward to working alongside them in the important run up to Christmas.”

She added: “Thousands of affordable digital radio units will soon be available in the UK and we are confident that this will be a very exciting time for the digital radio industry as a whole.”

Earlier this year he DRDB unveiled a new brand identity and logo for use by all its members, in an attempt to create consistency across the industry (see DRDB Unveils New DAB Identity). The new logo can be used under licence from national digital radio broadcaster Digital One on all literature and point-of-sale material and advertising.

Recent research from digital radio consortium, MXR, suggests that listeners prefer DAB Digital radio to traditional analogue radio. The survey shows that digital radio is being well received, with the increased choice of stations and superior sound quality impressing listeners most (see Research Shows Digital Radio Is The Preferred Choice).
