Granada has secured Fuller’s London Pride to use an innovative new advertising format during coverage of the forthcoming Rugby World Cup on ITV1 and ITV2.
The format features a new graphic overlay allowing the latest scores and information to be broadcast during individual advertising spots.
This new ‘type-over’ technology will alert viewers to the latest England rugby scores immediately before the game commences or just seconds after the score is known.
The new format was the brainchild of John Creedon, client sales controller at Granada Enterprises. It was developed in response to Fuller’s request achieve greater stand out against its bigger spending competitors.
Commenting on the initiative, Creedon said: “We are delighted to be able to fulfil Fuller’s marketing needs by providing an immediate creative solution to an existing ad. Using this revolutionary new technology we can now give advertisers with relatively small budgets the opportunity to use ITV1 creatively and make their ideas really stand out.”
John Roberts, brand director at Fuller’s, added: “There is a perfect match between rugby fans and London Pride drinkers â they are passionate about their subject, well-informed and determined. Pride will own rugby in London during the World Cup and long after the teams have come home.”
Granada Enterprises recently secured British Airways to sponsor a specially designed online rugby game to highlight the company’s sponsorship of this month’s Rugby World Cup tournament (see ITV Teams With British Airways For Rugby World Cup).
