Yahoo! Promotes Creativity With Media Space Give Away

Yahoo! UK & Ireland is launching a competition to win £30,000 worth of free media space in an attempt to promote creativity in online advertising and integrated marketing campaigns.
The competition is part of a wider initiative that will see the portal host a series of workshops for the online advertising industry, which it claims has suffered from a lack of creative input.
The workshops are aimed specifically at those with direct responsibility for online creativity within advertising and creative agencies. They will offer a range of content from spokespeople including Fru Hazlitt, Yahoo! UK & Ireland managing director and Bob Ivins, Yahoo! Europe’s research director.
Commenting on the initiative, Hazlitt said: “The dynamic, fast moving pace of the internet means that it is possible for creatives to challenge traditional boundaries and stretch their imaginations, by customising content and harnessing the interactive power of the internet.”
She added: “We hope to help them unlock this potential and drive creativity online. The tide is already turning however and we’re beginning to witness major brands, such as Sony, Nestle and Nissan using online as an effective branding tool, but our workshops will truly throw down the gauntlet to agencies.”
Earlier this month The Internet Advertising Bureau launched its first ever integrated marketing push to raise awareness and understanding of the medium. The campaign aims to communicate to advertisers, media planners and agencies the advantages of internet advertising as a complement to traditional media (see IAB Launches First Ever Marketing Campaign).
