Ogilvy Employs Dance To Lift Creative Spirit

Ad agencies Ogilvy & Mather and OgilvyOne have unveiled a new brand motivation programme, which will use dance-based training to increase creativity.

The project is part of the Arts & Business New Partners programme, which is designed to help businesses try something new with the arts and improve employee interaction.

Ogilvy believes the study of dance movement and audience interaction will provide an excellent medium for resolving difficult client issues. Through a programme of events, experiences and performances, the initiative aims to make the office a more vibrant place by focusing some of its employees’ artistic and social efforts on dance.

There will be live performance art and lunchtime lectures, team outings to productions and lessons in the bar. Staff will also be encouraged to interact through a variety of dance-related activities.

Emily Moore, account manager at Ogilvy, who is leading the project, commented: “It would be invaluable for managing partners to learn how a choreographer extracts the best performance from an expert dancer.”

She continued: “As a creative agency Ogilvy needs to look at creative ways to increase energy levels in the organisation – be it a few salsa moves on a Friday night or a discussion over the intellectual interpretations of a performance.”
