The RTL Group has today confirmed the appointment of Gerhard Zeiler as its new chief executive in succession to Didier Bellens.
Zeiler takes up the post with immediate effect but will also continue as chief executive of German broadcaster RTL Television. He is thought to be close to the Mohn family who have a majority share in RTL’s parent company Bertelsmann.
Commenting on the appointment, RTL Group chairman Juan Abello said: “We are delighted that Gerhard Zeiler has agreed to take this role, because he brings a wealth of experience in the broadcasting industry as well as considerable international knowledge.”
RTL is Europe’s leading broadcasting company and has interests in more than twenty television channels across the continent, including Five in the UK.
